Ornate or tacky- your call

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Ornate.”

Every December, my hubby and I go for a ride to see the Christmas lights in our city. Whether it be decorated homes, buildings or city lights, for me, the more over the top, the better. This one definitely fit the bill- it even had it’s own radio station!

Rose in the Snow

Rose in the Snow

As I look out my window on a cold and snowy day, these words come to mind-
“Isaiah ’twas foretold it,
the Rose I have in mind.
Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind.
To show God’s love aright,
She bore to us a Savior.
When half spent was the night.

This flower,whose fragrance tender
with sweetness fills the air.
Dispels with glorious splendor
the darkness everywhere.
True man, yet very God
from sin and death He saves us
and lightness every load.

It came, a floweret bright,
amid the cold of winter,
When half spent was the night.”

A visit to Christmas past

A visit to Christmas past

This was the view from my living room window 2 years ago.
I have since moved, so no more deer, no more woods and no more giant Christmas tree centered in the bay window.
And my view this Christmas?
A lovely city park, neighbors walking their dogs and children sledding down the hills.
A different view but the same perspective.
